Not all change is bad…
If we never allow God to change us,
we miss out on allowing God to truly transform us!
With great joy, I (Sean Austin) have accepted the role of Director of Faith Formation, in addition to being the Youth Minister (7-12 grade) for our united Parish Family, St. Oscar Romero. Cindi Fuselier has graciously accepted the role of Coordinator of Religious Education (K-6 grade), in addition to being the Safe Environment Coordinator.
Please make sure to thank and continue to pray for both Carol Serbak and Clyde House for their years of service to both St. Patrick and Holy Rosary Parishes. I know they will be missed!
Both Cindi and I are very excited about this upcoming year. Our primary mission is to ensure that every child either gets to know who Christ is on a personal level and/or to help them nurture their personal relationship with Christ while giving them the tools to do so. To achieve this, every class will have to involve Prayer (heart knowledge), Theology (head knowledge), open dialogue with the whole class (which will help strengthen what was taught that day), and most importantly having the dialogue that started in the classroom continue at home. For this to efficiently work, we would like to have no more than 15 children in a classroom.
We will be utilizing St. Patrick School and will continue to honor the legacy of enriching the hearts and minds of God’s children by having all Religious Education (K-6 grade) classes being there. This year you will have the option to have your child attend Religious Education Class on Sunday mornings (9:25-10:40 am) or on Monday evenings (6:00-7:15 pm). There will also be Religious Education Classes offered in Spanish at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal. Another option is a HomeStudy class, which will be monitored by Cindi on a regular basis.
For those in Grades 7 - 8, we will still be doing Edge: Middle School Youth Ministry which involves prayer, games, and large and small groups. Edge will be held on every other Wednesday evening (6:30-8:00 pm) in the New Hall at Holy Rosary. For more information and to watch a video about what Edge is please visit: www.romeroparish.org/edge.
I am very excited to announce that we will be introducing Life Teen: High School Youth Ministry for everyone who is in high school (9-12 grade). Life Teen is the high school version of Edge, which will be on every other Sunday evening (6:30-8:00 pm) in the New Hall at Holy Rosary. Life Teen will be in addition to Confirmation Prep for all those getting Confirmed in 9th grade. My dream is to have those who already been Confirmed (and those who were supposed to be Confirmed on May 7), to help lead and encourage their peers, especially those who are preparing to be Confirmed. For more information and to watch a video about what Life Teen is please visit: www.romeroparish.org/lifeteen.
Yes, this is the part where we ask for your help :) If you were a catechist last year for K-6 or if you helped with Middle or High School Youth Ministry, we would love for you to help again this year! Or if you have never helped with Religious Ed before or took a few years off, and would like to help this year, we would love that too! If you would like to learn more or still on the fence, please reach out to Cindi or me at cfuselier@romeroparish.org or saustin@romeroparish.org.
We ask that everyone register because this will ensure that our records and contact information are up-to-date.
If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to reach out to Cindi or me. Please know of our prayers for you and your family!
